the trailer has all the best bits.....

A Customer from Northants, UK, 24th February, 2008

Seen the trailer and was prepared for Jack Blacks usual standard of film, which I love. He seems different in this film though, almost manic, and the way he and his co-star talk over over each other became annoying - maybe they were improvising? My kids laughed more at the trailers before the film,

Bad bad bad

DougC from from Aberdeen, 7th April, 2008

How does Jack Black sleep at night? He plays the same character in every film - one which became epicly boring after school of rock - and still calls himself an actor. I have lost all faith in hollywood and all of the people who were involved in the production of this dreadfull and outrageously predictable film. After i watched the film and left the cinema, i felt depressed and almost vommited. i wish God was kind and let me rewind the two hours i spent watching this horrendous film.

It's a stinker

KatieGolightly from from London, 25th February, 2008

Sorry folks, if you were expecting madcap hilarity, then stick to the trailer. In fact, the trailers preceeding this film were funnier than the feature. I don't often feel moved enough to review, but this was Disappointing with a captial D. It had so much potential to be a real goodie, but somehow it just didn't work. A combination of bad script, bad acting (surprisingly) bad direction, a general 'budget' feel to it and the story was just weak and cheesy. So much so that we actually wondered whether it was aimed at being deliberately ametuer in line with the theme. But it just wasn't that clever. Really folks, I urge you not to waste your time and money on this one, there are much better things on offer and this just won't hit the mark.

Didn't mind Be Kind...but

PaulaWestwood from from Ashton-Under-Lyne, 23rd February, 2008

A reasonable comedy that given the subject idea could definately have done better. Unfortunately the whole thing gets lost in a fictional 'message' that overrides the whole comedy aspect and dilutes what could have been an excellent fun filled hour and a half into a slightly below par bit of fluff. Performances are good and it is worth a watch, just be kind to yourself and have it on your rental list rather than waste a trip to the big screen to watch this one.

Not a bad film had some funny moments mainly with the 'sweded' movies, the ending was poor though

do not rewind!

Beccalew from from Portland, 25th August, 2008

I was sadly disappointed by this film as I love Jack Blacks humor...but unfortunately this film fell short of my expectations. Rather than it being a laugh a minute it was more a chuckle once every half an hour.

Mmmehhh?

emmalou1978 from from Liverpool, 24th August, 2008

If you like Jack Black, you'll like this. I like him, however I am bit over him, it feels like he's taking a giant step back to that same old character from High Fidelity etc... Totally watchable, and the remakes or 'Sweded' films are funny, but to be fair you've probably seen them all in the trailers. It feels a little amateur and awkward, and Mos Deff, I felt was a terrible actor. Don't expect anything as good as the wonderful Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, this is nowhere near as clever or unique, however hard Michel Gondry tries. By the Way, Mia farrow rarely stars in movies these days, she cherry picks a special one every few years.....this was a waste of her talent.
