Right now before you write me off as being an ignorant conceited gamer with the fact that im writing a review about a game i had for one day i must point out i played it a lot, from the moment it got through the door till the afternoon in time to catch the evening post. Another thing im going to say on the outset is that even though it sounds like im going to make this game out to be some sort of Nazi creation everyone should hate im not, i'll be as impartial as ever!! (cough, cough) One more thing im going to explain is that the 3 star rating it obtained from me isnt a judgement that its an ok game but that its an ok arcade game ,im rating it in comparison to the rest of its genre. A rating of just how it is as a game on the whole it would only get 1 star for sure but for an arcade game (a genre im not too fond of) it does an alright job. initially i liked this game im not the biggest racing game fan but occasionally i like to have a break from shooters, racing and sports games are where i usually turn to. unless your a fan of arcade racers or games like radical bikers, crazy taxi id give this a miss any serious racer fans will undoubtedly hate this game they've got everything right except the thing that matters GAME PLAY. The graphics are despite what most people say clearly next gen with outstanding textures and lighting, they've just been glazed over with a slightly cartoon like style which makes it more of an authentic arcade racer experience, they've even got an annoying co driver telling you directions and the screen has various timers for your lap ,best lap, total time etc, numbers showing your lap and position and so on just like you'd find in other arcade racers its got cheesy annoying music just like in most other arcade racers so you get my point it does very well at getting the look, style and feel of an arcade racer so what more could you want??? i'll tell you, a car that handles better then a cow on ice i make no exaggeration when i say these cars are the worst i have ever come across, i thought once i unlock a couple they would get better but most were even worse then the ones you start off with! i fully understand that this was never meant to be a driving simulator like the PGR series but if they just got the driving right it would really be a great game this aspect feels like an after thought and so the whole game suffers if the cars were fun to drive then you would probably be able to over look the fact that theres only about about 4 or 5 tracks in the whole game. Its onlly real selling point is its track destructibility and how the car gets muddy as you go along but i remember a rally game that did this to some degree on the old Nintendo 64 and that actually was fun to play. the only slightly redeeming factor is the online multi player.its fun to race other people and the regulars are really friendly but its nothing you couldnt get in a better racer and it still has the problems of the normal mode. Before i write it off as a total screw up we should remember that Burn out started as an arcade racer with many flaws but look at it now, with a couple improvements Sega Rally could potentially be a great racing series if they ever decide to go down that road but until they do id stay well clear of this underwhelming frankly waste of a purchase or rental.
