The battle for the city is won in the canyon as Need For Speed: Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing. For the first time in a Need for Speed game, build a crew and race in an all-out war for your city against rival crews and opposing car classes. You'll risk everything to take over rival neighborhoods one street at a time. Each crew member has unique skills that you trigger during races to give you the winning edge over opponents. Call on a Blocker to create a distraction and slow down other racers or a Scout to lead you to shortcuts on the track.

As the police turn up the heat and force the races to the outskirts of the city, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve. Use your creativity to design your crew's cars with the revolutionary new Autosculpt car customization tool that gives you the power to turn every vehicle into the car you've always wanted. Represent your car class, your crew, and your streets in Need For Speed: Carbon, the next revolution in racing games.

Classic NFS

james fairless from Middlesbrough, 16th May, 2007

If you are a fan of the post underground NFS series then this is a good rental idea. A slightly wooly story supports your game play but as ever with NFS games the fun is in the fast paced high octane driving. I found the in game graphics slightly disappointing as I felt that the PS2 could have created most of what is on display. Despite this you get what you expect, fast racing, extreme modding and some very cool rides.

Hours of fun

Shane Osborne from Cornwall, 24th September, 2007

Great game especially with the logitech G25 Wheel. Me and my friends spend hours at a time on this. Rent, Setup your G25 wheel and invite your friends over. Don't forget not to drink and drive ;) Chose 4 stars only on the basis that this game could of looked alot better especially with the capabilities of the PS3. Still outperformed the Xbox 360 version.

Good fun but not amazing

A Customer from Gatwick, 19th July, 2007

I brought this with my PS3 and I think it's a good game. The story is just a bit of fun so you don't need to pay too much attention to it. The police chases are hard work but really satisfying- especially if you're trying to win a bonus. They always seem to happen when you're thinking about turning the console off and you don't have much choice other than to race!! The graphics aren't briliant, certainly not the razor sharp picture I was expecting during gameplay. The drifting element is good but takes practise. It's a real shame the motion sensitivity of the sixaxis isn't used like in motorstorm. On a more serious note I did find myself driving my real car a bit quicker than I should after playing this- maybe I got used to the speed of passing objects in the game and therefore the reality?!? All in all it's a good game and worth hiring or buying.

need for speed carbon

jiimyboy from , 26th January, 2008

wow amazing cant believe this is what people think they can get away with for the ps3. Very poor. this was like playing a racing game from the 90s. If you want a good game for the PS3 check out motor sport, this is what we have paid our money for.

Few Changes But Some Downgrades

Splint07 from from Kent, England, 4th April, 2008

Need For Speed: Carbon was a game I had to tryout, I had completed the PS2 version and so I thought PS3 version had to be better! After renting, I found out that it is quite a short game, I completed this game in 3 days! The graphics seemed quite poor, obviously EA never actually digitally remade the game for PS3, only rended the game with slightly newer features and some extra reflections on the road and car. Good Points: New FMV's during in-game with boss races. Bonus FMV's before and after races (vary). Added reflections Bad Points: PS2 In-Game Graphics. No bonus cars or parts. Same/Small storyline. Don't get the good cars until 100% completion.
