A Very Right and Proper film

A classic of the early postwar period, this film tells how a wartime entertainer and impersonator, Corporal Clifton-James, is made to impersonate Field-Marshal Mongomery in a high-profile tour of Africa, in an effort to convince the Germans that the D-Day landings will in fact come from Africa. Based on Clifton-James' memoirs, the film is particularly of historical interest because Clifton-James plays himself in the film, which gives you a good idea of just how good an impersonator he actually was. One of the few successfully light-hearted stories of the war, and well worth seeing.
