There's nothing clever about the current rash of street racing and showy driving. Well before all the pimping, before the Need for Speed Undergrounds and even before the Burnouts, we were all playing Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast. The people at Bizarre Creations learned about racing games making their successful F1 games for the PlayStation. MSR was a much more ground breaking kettle of fish, though, awarding players 'kudos' points for flashy driving as they raced through the streets of London Tokyo and San Francisco. It didn't hurt that the soundtrack was written by Outrun music legend Richard Jacques either. As the Xbox eclipsed the poor, hard done by Dreamcast, it was decided that this was the ideal new home for Bizarre racing game. Two versions of the re-christened Project Gotham Racing came out for the Xbox, the second of which sported desirable Xbox Live! support. So it won't surprise those browsing shelves filled with software for the new Xbox 360 console to see the supercar-emblazoned mush of Project Gotham 3 peeking mischievously out at them. If you've managed to miss the screenshots released on the internet throughout the year, take it from us that this is one beautiful, jaw-droppingly shiny and lovely videogame. Online and offline modes have been improved and expanded to allow you to tailor your racing experience. Select any one of the dreamy supercars on offer and get closer than ever to your mechanised icons. You'll discover that every detail of the cars, down to the dashboards inside, is faithfully modelled. The cities are no less impressive, and your tour of the world takes you through photorealistic reconstructions of anywhere from New York to Tokyo. And of course there's the good old kudos system, rewarding you at every turn for flamboyance and panache. Let's not beat about the bush, PGR3 is the absolute must have 360 launch title and there's just no arguing about it.

Awesome in almost every way

David Hetherington from Newcastle, 24th March, 2006

This game delivers just about everything you could ask for in a launch title - basically its a showpiece for the 360. The graphics and sound are phenomenal, Live play has improved and the controls are so precisce that you never feel cheated - if you crash you know its your fault! However there is one drawback in that, besides a welcome but limited map maker, the game doesn't have any new game elements, meaning essentially it plays exactly like the PGR2 did on the xbox - not such a bad thing as that was pretty much perfect, but some new challenges would have been nice. But then with the promise of new cities available on live it looks like this games gonna last you!

Boring!

Tom Newman from Essex, 5th July, 2006

I sent this game back after one day! The graphics were dissappointing, playablity was poor and the menu system was overly complicated. Really dont bother with this one.

Best driving game

IanLov from from Dunoon, 15th March, 2007

If there is one thing the 360 is lacking and thats a fantastic driving game. This was a launch title and it rocked the and still does. Due to Christmas demnd this game has become one thr more popular online games again. This game has option for the option which is ideal for your custom online matches and the campaign is pretty good as well.

Amazing Graphics, Amazing Handling

A Customer from Stafford, 18th March, 2006

I have to say first of all, i dont own an XBOX 360, but i did play the demo version of this game at a Video game store. I have to say it is literally JAW DROPPING the graphics are like nothing you've ever seen....the handling for the cars were very smooth and very realistic, not like usual demos where you can just fly through the course without braking! But aynway saying this is about a demo usually means the full game should be AMAZING!

Never mind the Kudos

Durwin from from Marlborough, 8th July, 2008

This was the first racing game I had for my new Xbox 360 and I enjoyed it quite a lot when not screaming at it. I suppose the graphics are a bit dated now compared to PGR4 and Forza2 not to mention other newer games, but I found them OK. The racing model is OK, somewhat arcadey but you are rewarded I think for driving 'properly' by better lap times (e.g. braking before a corner not as you go around it!!) What drove me mad about this game was the Kudos-gathering sections where you have to throw the cars around to do 'cool' moves *without hitting the sides*. Sure I could do most of the moves, but not without smashing into the side more often than not. This was really frustrating. But overall, I think its a good game, online play is a lot of fun too.

Try Forza Motorsport 2 instead

superjim from from Newcastle, UK, 22nd April, 2008

This game is every dated now, both in graphics and gameplay. So try Forza 2 instead or give PGR4 a go.
