Well taught

A Customer from Essex, UK, 10th January, 2006

This DVD maybe a little too advanced for me in places, but you have an excellent teacher and well planned out lessons. Add to that a couple of background tracks and you have a sound DVD for both beginners and the more advanced guitarist

More good stuff from the Lick Library

Kevin Jackson from Clackmannanshire, Scotland, 11th October, 2006

Another good quality instructional DVD from the Lick Library stable. This one - disc one - teaches you 'Sweet Child...', 'Paradise City' and 'Welcome to the Jungle'. If you're familiar with other titles, there are no surprises here. Usual format: a thorough breakdown of each part of the song, including solos, bridge parts etc, plus a complete performance of each track. This is the second LL DVD I've watched that is presented by Danny Gill, and I have to say he's one of their best tutors. As he explains at the start of the DVD, these songs were performed by Slash with the guitar tuned down half a step. The lessons and the performances though just use normal tuning, which still sounds very good. If you're new to the LL stuff, be aware that there isn't any tab provided with the DVD. It's one reason I always stop short of giving them fives stars; another reason is that there is no backing track to play along with. Still, you can follow the lessons easily enough, and could quite easily jot down the tab as it's explained if you want.

Awesome 4 stars

A Customer from Newcastle ,England, 21st June, 2006

Excellent Dvd, danny gill makes a fantastic job of breaking these tracks down, I would sugggest that this is not excactly for a begginer because some of the solos are very hard. Well worth a rent for sweet child of mine alone

Good Stuff

Darren Munday from York, North Yorkshire., 26th February, 2008

I thought it'd be nice to re-learn some of the stuff I used to play when I was in bands 20 years ago so I rented this DVD. I wish I'd have had titles like this all those years ago - it's great letting someone else do the hard part for a change i.e. transcribing the guitar parts it saves a load of time. Learnt all the guitar parts in no time at all- easy peasy. I'll rent more like this. Danny even plays the parts slowly to give you rubbish guitarists half a chance ;o) All we had in our day was a cassette player and a cardboard box in'f middle ot' roaad. Agreed - no outro solo to Paradise City but you all need something to work out yourselves eh?

Not Danny Gill's best work

A Customer from England, UK, 16th May, 2007

No end solo to Paradise City - bit of a cop out there. This is still one of the best shots at getting the G'n'R songs added to you repertoire, but the bar could've been set a bit higher.

Just like the real thing

A Customer from London, UK, 1st December, 2006

Excellent! Well explained and beautifully delivered. In my view you still have to be a professional guitar player in order to hit all the correct notes. If you are a decent enough player you will definitely be able to hit the signature parts of solos and riffs and work your way around the rest so at least whatever you play will be recognisable to others. Can we have one for Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and Bryan Adams!
