Raiders type adventure in which Jake Speed, defender of justice, must save a kidnapped girl from the clutches of a greedy white slaver.

A barely acceptable rip-off of Romancing the Stone and Raiders of the Lost Ark about a girl who vanishes in Paris and the fictional, paperback detective who sets out to find her. While Karen Kopins as the girl's sister and Wayne Crawford are hardly a match for Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, the white slave trader villain gives John Hurt ample opportunity to go way over the top in malarial malevolence. The story flits around the globe from Paris to Africa and picks up a touch of the Casablancas towards the end. No new clichés here, as Sam Goldwyn might have said, but a certain self-conscious style.
