Al (Freddy Prinze, Jr.) and Imogen (Julia Stiles) are college students at a New York university who meet at a bar and are immediately attracted to each other. Gradually, their relationship evolves over a three-month period. As their relationship intensifies, troubles arise, forcing them to separate. Years later, looking back, Al understands that Imogen may, in fact, have been the one. He can only pray that it is not too late. A fresh young supporting cast, featuring Selma Blair, Ashton Kutcher, Shawn Hatosy, and Rosario Dawson, round out this charming romantic comedy.

Radio Times

This teenage romance details the relationship between two New York college kids, from starting out to falling out to starting over. Freddie Prinze Jr and Julia Stiles make attractive leads, but Kris Isacsson's film is marred by irritating voice-overs, asides to camera and loads of cracker-barrel philosophising about life and love. The production values are high, and there's a fine supporting performance from Henry Winkler as Prinze Jr's TV chef dad. But the picture would have benefited from a simpler, less smart-aleck approach.

Pretty Good

Christopher Powell from Stafford, 23rd May, 2005

Down To You is another in the long line of romantic comedies that follows the ?Boy meets girl, something goes wrong, etc? that has been done a thousand times. So why am I recommending this? Because it?s a genuinely engaging film that is just that little bit better than most of the genre. I took a chance on this movie because I am a big fan of Julia Stiles, but if, like me ? you would rather have a root canal than watch Freddie Prinze Jr - then prepare to be (slightly) amazed. Playing Al, a college student who wants to be a chef like his tv chef dad (Henry Winkler), Prinze meets fellow student Imogen (Stiles) in a bar. They hit it off straight away and form a picture perfect couple. Much like real life, the honeymoon period fades and we see the relationship gradually deteriorate. Both the ascent of the relationship and the decline are handled deftly without resort to over the top scenarios or histrionics. You will feel for both parties without taking sides and hope for an eventual reunion, which may or may not come ? I shan?t spoil it for you! Its more ?Rom? than ?Com? as the supporting cast who are there for purely laughs generally fall flat (although a walk-on by Aston Kutcher is surprisingly good). Down To You more than compensates with the ?Rom?. The strength of the film lies in the two leads who play off each other incredibly well giving a good portrayal of a young couple in a relationship without ever getting overly mushy or schmaltzy. It may be fairly formulaic and hold no surprises but is enjoyable and worth 90 mins of your life if you are in a romantic mood.

Pretty good actually

ying88 from Portsmouth England, 15th June, 2006

This film I only rented due to my julia stiles obbsession- then found it to be new and refreshing and seemingly miles ahead of other teen romance movies. If you liked 10 things I hate about you, or Cruel Intentions, you'll like this!!

Another Winner for Freddie Prinze Junior.

A Customer from Lancaster, 2nd February, 2008

Another Freddie Prinze Jnr teen romance comedy, this one stars the wonderful Julia Stiles. The couple fall in love and the story shows the ups and downs of their relationship. Very enjoyable and highly recomended.
