Radio Times

This “adoption-by-proxy” comedy is a perfect example of how a sparkling central performance can make even the most crudely sentimental fluff hilariously palatable. Thanks to slacker superstar Adam Sandler and his infectious goofball sweetness, this film works like a charm, even though the story springs few surprises (lazy loafer takes his flatmate's love-child under his wing; they bond; and the parental challenges change him sufficiently to win the hand of Miss Right, Joey Lauren Adams). Yes, it's contrived, mawkish and manipulative, but Happy Gilmore director Dennis Dugan's effortless handling of the tale and Sandler's confident puppy-dog demeanour ensure that it delivers huge laughs. Sandler haters beware, however: he alone gives Big Daddy its big heart.

Fun Fun Fun

iccklecat from South Yorkshire, 23rd July, 2004

This film has to be the funniest film I have ever seen. Adam Sandler plays a guy called Sonney Cofax who is given the responsibility of looking after a young boy. The film brings along with it familiar faces from previous Sandler movies and manages to provide a laugh a minute whilst taking you back to your own mischievous childhood!

Good

Seconded only to "Happy Gilmore" in my opinion. Very funny American comedy. Adam Sandler returns to the type of film which brought him such acclaims from "Waterboy" and "Happy Gilmore". The same familiar faces appear and along with some new characters! You will find it hard not to laugh as you watch this one.

Great fun - enjoy.

Sandler is great as the laid back under achiever, ably supported by the cast of misfits who typically are his friends. His slow laconic one liners are really funny, especially if you remeber batchelor life and now have a rug rat or two yourself. The sentimental bits fit in well with the story and are over with fairly quickly. An enjoyable movie which I recommend if you want 90 minutes or so of escapism.
