Don't worry, be happy (what else could I have put?)

The second spin-off from The Lion King eschews the follow-on approach of Simba's Pride in order to do a Back to the Future II style spin on the first movie. Here Timon and Pumbaa are given centre stage - and a front row seat - against the backdrop of events in The Lion King. As Timon says, they were always there during those events, we just didn't know it. While it's not as fresh as the original, and the (mercifully) few songs aren't quite up to the standard set by Elton John and Tim Rice, this is still a fun idea given a pleasing treatment. The return of most of the voice cast adds to the proceedings and Lane and Sabella are given some good lines to play with. The animation lacks the lustre of the original (again to be expected), but as a direct-to-video 'sequel', it makes up in energy what it lacks in style. All round, an entertaining diversion you won't be sorry to have seen.
