Don't worry, be happy (what else could I have put?)

Nigel Burris from Basildon, Essex, 26th April, 2004

The second spin-off from The Lion King eschews the follow-on approach of Simba's Pride in order to do a Back to the Future II style spin on the first movie. Here Timon and Pumbaa are given centre stage - and a front row seat - against the backdrop of events in The Lion King. As Timon says, they were always there during those events, we just didn't know it.

While it's not as fresh as the original, and the (mercifully) few songs aren't quite up to the standard set by Elton John and Tim Rice, this is still a fun idea given a pleasing treatment. The return of most of the voice cast adds to the proceedings and Lane and Sabella are given some good lines to play with.

The animation lacks the lustre of the original (again to be expected), but as a direct-to-video 'sequel', it makes up in energy what it lacks in style. All round, an entertaining diversion you won't be sorry to have seen.

Lion Cash-in

Beacon97 from , 29th September, 2004

This film is terrible! Lion King and even Lion King II are well conceived well executed family entertainment. This is excessively bad scripting and filmmaking, unfortunately living off the success of the first two films and in so doing sullying their names. It's a shame Disney has belittled itself to this level. This is a very annoying film interrupted frequently by the characters watching themselves in a cinema. Why? Money! The kids were bored, and I was annoyed I had wasted a rental.

painful

A Customer from Huddersfield, 16th October, 2008

This has very little plot and is really quite boring to watch. My 5 year old started playing with her toys half way through. Maybe all parents should rent this to stop their children watching the box all day!

Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata Great.

Cornetto from , 15th August, 2007

Amazing tale, super continuation from The Lion KIng and Lion King 2. The children really enjoyed the story and were glued to the screen.

a nice simple film

emi from England, 22nd June, 2007

This film although pushing the lion king franchise to its limits is a nice story retelling the first film from the point of view of those two loveable beings timon and pumbaa, this film has some genuinely funny and at times original moments with a catchy meerkat song that will get stuck in your head - if your looking for a film with a strong plot then avoid but if you want to watch something where you dont have to think and just have a good time then this is a good choice and a film that kids wil love.
