Wii Fit comes bundled with the Wii Balance Board, an accessory developed exclusively for the Wii console that will have a far-reaching impact for all who use it. It's innovative, exciting and most of all fun and simple for all to use. It is a pressure sensitive, wireless balance board that goes on the floor - so someone can stand on it in front of the TV. It senses weight and shift in balance in any direction and therefore by standing on the Wii Balance Board during activities allows players to follow along to movements ensuring they have full control of the on-screen activities. This allows personal improvement goals to be set to effectively help you and your family to train and stay fit...

Increasing your awareness of the importance that fitness has on everyday life and keeping yourself and family motivated should be easier with Wii Fit. The programme allows up to 8 people to track progress and monitor performance. Once you insert the Wii Fit Disc into a Wii console, a new channel - Wii Fit Channel can be added to your Wii Menu system. Once the Wii Fit Channel is added it enables users to not have to insert the Wii Fit Disc into a Wii console in order for the Wii Balance Board to scale your weight to calculate your BMI, measure the centre of your bodily balance and conduct a balance test in order to calculate your Wii Fit Age. It also allows you to monitor how long you did which category of exercise for in one day, all in the comfort of your own home and without the need to keep inserting the Wii Fit Disk into your Wii console each time.

great fun, good exercise, very playable

A Customer from Sheffield, 30th April, 2008

I love this game! I have a few-week old baby and am trying to get back into shape. This doesn't promise miracles, but it's a fun and useful way to exercise when you can't get out of the house (who said consoles were making us obese?). I've only had it since Friday (5 days) and yet I don't know how I did without it. The game comes bundled with a wii fit board, which is like a set of scales the size of an opened magazine. It's surprisingly responsive and can measure the most minute of details, but enough of the techie stuff - is the game actually fun? Yes. However - my one reservation is that once I've unlocked all the exercises/games, will I still find it interesting enough to come back every day? The exercises are broken down into four categories, aerobic, yoga, muscle workouts, and balance games. The yoga uses the board to give you feedback on how your centre of gravity is lying, aiming for better posture. The muscle workouts are just that - focussing on specific areas, and you can mix and match to suit what you want to target. You are guided through the yoga and muscles by a virtual instructor, easy to follow, although their chattiness gets on my wick a bit. Aerobic exercise is great fun, with step, boxing, running (yes, I was cynical, but it works), and even hula-hooping (my favourite!). The balance games are a bit of silliness but all involve thrashing your body around to achieve results. I think the most useful exercise so far is the 'free step', which is basically stepping on and off the board to a ticking coming out of the wii-mote, along with the odd encouraging comment. It tells you when you reach your target (you set it, along with the pace), and you can change over to another channel on your tv such as mtv or another music channel, and step away to the music (or gardeners world if you're so inclined). Oh, and you can password-protect your weight results if you need to! Well worth buying, if only to keep beating your husband at ski-jumping, mwah ha ha ha.
