The year is 1956, the coldest year of the Cold War and Hungary is politically dominated by the Soviet Empire. Yet, Hungary is also a superpower - the Hungarian national water polo team remains undefeated... invincible. While Communist oppression hangs like a dark cloud over the Hungarians' everyday life, the team's star athletes are shining heroes to the nation, treated like modern day rock stars with money jingling in their pockets and a beautiful girl on each arm.

For the handsome hot-headed star of the team, Karcsi, politics were of no concern, until he met Viki. He is intrigued by her beauty and determination and soon finds himself entangled in the middle of a revolution. Drawn in by his love for Viki, Karcsi joins the fight for freedom. However, after the battle has left the streets Karcsi must face his toughest battle... in the swimming pool. The Hungarian team represented their betrayed population and their epic match was an inspiration to their people.

Decent Olympic drama

Breeno from , 11th August, 2008

Interesting movie set in Hungary during the 1956 revolution set around the Olympic water polo team of that eventful year. From the screenwriter of such Hollywood hits (and misses) as Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, and er... Showgirls, and the producers of such massive hits as Terminator, it's not exactly what you'd expect, but is entertaining. Not quite the 'Lives of Others meets Chariots of Fire' that the DVD cover suggests, but you're unlikely to see a better Hungarian water polo drama this year...
