One of the best kids cartoons!

ajfromuk from from Llandudno Junction, N. Wales, 3rd February, 2008

What can I say? If you were a child in the 80's you probably remember this cartoon being on BBC. The animation was fantastic, the stroyline gripping and the number of episodes amazing. I have been waiting for years for this to come on DVD and if you like the whole Manga style cartoons with great music and gripping strories then this is a must to see, but be prepared to be lost for hours!

About time it was released!

JoeB from from Wallingford, 20th March, 2008

My nostalgic life is complete! The last few years has seen the release of all the quality 80's cartoon epics such as Dogtanion, Willy Fog, Ulysees 31,etc - but this one is probably the most eagerly awaited. Mountains of episodes, an amazing story line and THE best theme tune ever add up to equal a must-see (and must have) series. If you are now aged 27-35 there's a better than good chance you watched at least a couple of episodes of this on Childrens BBC in the mid 80's, but even if you didn't - it's still no excuse not to see it this time! I was looking into why its cartoons like this that stay so ingrained in the mind and then I saw that the first running of the series was over 10 months! It really became part of your life after school every week. I dare say i'll find the dubbing far more dubious than I remember but thats a small issue. I also notice only one high street retailer/online firm is selling this at the mo where as everyone else isn't selling it till June. I've already reserved my copy!

Almost as good as I remember

Adama from from Hendon, 22nd July, 2008

They say that you can never have your childhood back. In most cases, that's correct; not here. The Mysterious Cities of Gold, unlike most of the childhood cartoons I have revisited, is as good as I remember. The dubbing is a bit ropey at times but the stories and ideas found in this series more than make up for any loss of asthetic considerations. It works, mostly, because of the genuine sense of wonder and fun of the creators. A kids story set in 16th Century Central America with robots and flying ships? It could not be made today so enjoy a blast from the past.
