Samuel L. Jackson to star in remake of The Last Dragon
Samuel L Jackson is reportedly set to star in the remake of cult 1985 film
The Last Dragon.
The star, famed for his roles in
Pulp Fiction and
Star Wars, is currently in discussions to play Sho'nuff, the
Shogun of Harlem, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Columbia Pictures is remaking the Kerry Gordy film, which is being penned and produced by Dallas Jackson, with RZA from the
Wu-Tang Clan listed as co-producer.
The plot will be updated for the modern day but will still follow the story of martial arts student Leroy Green who strives to achieve the greatest accomplishment in the art form known as The Last Dragon.
Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia, told the news site the film will bring a "fresh edge" to the original story.
"We're thrilled to be working with Kerry Gordy as he continues his father's legacy, and we're confident that he along with John and Dallas are the perfect team to develop the project," he added.
The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that
Crispin Glover had joined the cast of Tim Burton's forthcoming adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.
